Heliwest Helicopter Safari

On the 21st. November 2008 11 Robinson helicopters left Perth for 3 day’s in the south west of Western Australia as part of the first ever Heliwest Helicopter Safari.

It all started after a quick breifing at Heliwest and then we headed off to Augusta where the guy’s from Beyond Fear had set-up a shooting range for everyone to blast away for a few hours. It was then onto the Augusta hotel for dinner and a room for the night.

I got up early for some long exposure’s/flash shot’s of the heli’s but the frost created a weird white look so that was canned. We then headed off for Albany following the coast however the rain started about halfway there so visibility wasn’t so good. Lunch was at Maitraya resort, just east of Albany and then it was off to Albany airport for the overnight stay. Watching everyone land in the rain and lightning at Albany was … interesting.

The next morning we headed off to “The Lily” the dutch windmill just near the Stirling Ranges, the people that were climbing Bluff Knoll were probably wandering what was going on as 11 helicopters went pass!  After lunch at the Lily it was then on to Perth and the end of 3 memorable day’s in the south west.

The following slideshow is just a small sample of the image’s from this trip.
