We were up at Cervantes on the weekend filming and taking some photos of the Cervantes Speed windsurfing event, here’s a few images which also includes a rare sunset shot with the helicopter chasing a windsurfer.

Cervantes Speed

The poster pretty much explains it all, we’ll be taking a heli up to Cervantes in November for the windsurfing weekend to get some photos of everyone going down the speed course. Cervantes, which is about 200km north of Perth has the largest area of pristine aqua water along this coast so the photos should be some of the best looking we’ve done – this will be an event not to miss for sure!

KA Sails/Jesper Orth

Australian Wavesailing Titles 2010 – The Movie

Well, here’s the video from the Australian Wavesailing Title’s held in Margaret River during the week. Filmed entirely on the Canon 7D with the 24mm 1.4 and the opening cabin segment with the 15mm fisheye, no gyro stabiliser – all hand held. Enjoy!

Australian Wavesailing Titles 2010

The Australian Wavesailing Titles have been on in Margaret River for the last few day’s and we have been down there doing video and stills for them from the heli. Swan River Windsurfing

Have been testing out the video capabilities of the Canon 7D recently so thought it was time to try out it’s aerial quality on the weekend so we asked www.lauretreboux.com.au to do a bit of windsurfing on the Swan for us. This camera is producing some outstanding video quality and should have some test clips soon but after we did the video it was back to the 1 series for some stills like the one below.

Gnaraloo Whale’s

We try to get up to Gnaraloo around September/October each year for some windsurfing which is about the same time the whale’s migrate past, travelling at time’s within 100m. of the coast. Most day’s you’ll see some whale’s going past with the most I’ve seen in one day being about 50.

On this day I was just taking some photos of friend’s windsurfing when this one whale starting jumping quite close to one person. I ran off this sequence but afterward’s couldn’t find who this person was. Over the year’s I showed these photo’s to a lot of people but nobody knew who it was and I started to find myself more eager to find this person.

Well, about 5 month’s ago somebody thought they knew who it was and after showing the photos we finally tracked down the guy. He was an Italian tourist and luckily he was back in Perth so the negative’s were scanned and Sparitico got his photo’s.

These were pre-digital for me so it was the Eos-3 and print film – I alway’s used slide film but at this time I was getting rid of some old print film so am still a little annoyed it wasn’t slide but a happy ending after all.
