Riviera Variety Splash 2011

The 2011 Riviera Variety Splash left Fremantle for Busselton on Thursday in a 5 day trip around the south west and we managed to get some shots as they left. All images will be available for veiwing and purchase on the Heliwest website soon, we shot some video as well which should be ready next week sometime! Shot on the 1D mk 4 from Heliwest’s 105.

Mark Webber was in Perth today for the first “Festival of Speed” at Barbagollo racetrack and we managed to get a few photos of him in the morning as he was getting ready to leave by helicopter. Also travelling with him and in the first photo are from L to R after Mark Webber are, Alan Jones, Geoff Brabham, Daniel Ricciardo and Ash (pilot).

New Ten News Chopper

Today was delivery day for the new Ten News Perth helicopter, an event that we had to get some images of so Paul and I did some air to air shots as it left Heliwest on it’s way to channel 10. We shot about 3-400 images in total with the 3 below taken at Cottesloe Beach.

Hale School

Here’s a couple of images from our photoshoot at Hale School yesterday, we were there taking a wide variety of shots from 3,000ft down to ground level and ended up taking about 500 shots including some pretty good fisheye shots as well. As can be seen by the photos we decided to take the Westpac Rescue Helicopter out for this job and as we had to land several times on the oval to adjust the camera equipment it made a good photo op for a few of us.

Car auction

During the week Manheimfowles conducted their first auction of almost 1,000 cars at their new premises just near Perth International Airport so here’s a couple of images from that day. Most days it is near on impossible to take photos next to the airport however this day traffic was light so we were able to go straight there, take some photos and go home without any delay, making life so much easier for everyone!

Richard Branson in Perth

We had the pleasure to photograph Richard Branson on his arrival by helicopter at Burswood Resort yesterday so here’s a few shot’s just on sunset in front of the casino. Richard is here to raise money for the Strike a Chord foundation which helps out children with cancer so he was arriving at Burswood for their “Pool Party” where hundred’s of people had paid $400 a ticket to hear Richard speak.

After we had finished the arrival photograph’s we were heading home when we recieved an invite to attend the party so back we went for one of the greatest Perth party’s for awhile – ended up being a good night with plenty of photos and some video as well which might make it here soon? Thank’s to everyone who helped on this one, Heliwest crew @ pilots, Richard for being so media friendly and Justinya (assistant) who did a great job on the night!

Well, here’s the video from the Australian Wavesailing Title’s held in Margaret River during the week. Filmed entirely on the Canon 7D with the 24mm 1.4 and the opening cabin segment with the 15mm fisheye, no gyro stabiliser – all hand held. Enjoy!
